The short version
Word Tether uses the information needed to run the game, restore your progress, operate leaderboards and social features, provide purchases, and keep the community safe. We do not sell your personal data and do not use third-party advertising trackers.
Information we collect
Account and sign-in information
If you link an account, we receive an account identifier and may receive your name or email address from Apple or Google. These details are used to authenticate you and restore your Word Tether profile.
Profile and public information
Your nickname, player icon, profile color, equipped title, level, and eligible scores may appear on leaderboards and public player profiles. Your email address, sign-in details, internal account ID, and push token are not shown publicly.
Gameplay and progress
We store game runs, scores, word counts, languages, game modes, daily challenge progress, XP, levels, achievements, streaks, rank history, recaps, and related gameplay events so features work across devices and can be protected against abuse.
Social and moderation data
If you use social features, we store friend requests, friendships, blocks, Duels, ratings, challenge preferences, reports, and word-review submissions. Reports may include the reason and context you choose to provide.
Purchases, devices, and service data
We store your Word Tether Plus entitlement and purchase status, but Apple processes the payment. If you enable notifications, a device token and notification preferences are used to deliver them. Our service providers may process technical request information such as IP addresses and logs to provide and secure their services.
How we use information
- Provide accounts, cloud restoration, gameplay, leaderboards, achievements, and social features.
- Validate ranked results, reduce spam and cheating, and enforce safety rules.
- Respond to support, moderation, and word-review requests.
- Operate notifications you choose to enable.
- Understand product reliability and gameplay in aggregate.
Service providers
We use Supabase for authentication, database storage, and backend functions; Apple for purchases, Sign in with Apple, and notifications; and Google only when you choose Google sign-in. These providers process data under their own terms and privacy commitments.
Your controls
You can control public-profile visibility, friend requests, who may challenge you, and notifications inside the app. You can export a copy of your Word Tether data or delete your account from Help & More → Privacy & Data. See the account deletion guide for more.
Retention and deletion
We keep information while your account is active and as needed to provide the service, maintain security, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations. Account deletion removes your Word Tether account and associated app data, subject to limited records that must be retained for legal, security, or fraud-prevention reasons. Apple may separately retain purchase records.
Security, transfers, and children
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, but no online system can promise absolute security. Our providers may process information in countries outside your own with applicable safeguards. If you believe a child supplied personal information without any consent required by local law, please contact us.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy as Word Tether changes. Material updates will be reflected here with a new effective date. Questions or privacy requests can be sent to support@wordtether.com.
